We Let the Umbrella Slip
We Let the Umbrella Slip
I was strolling alone in the park
All was quiet, cold and dark.
The wind whistled softly as it played with my hair
The moon winked at me, a lustrous ball of solitaire.
I sat on a bench, lost in thought very deep
Is he is still awake or is he dreaming about me in sleep?
Maybe he's also staring at the moon in the dim
Thinking bout me, like I'm thinking about him.
All of a sudden, the wind's whistle went dry
As the icy droplets of magic began to fall from the sky.
Before I could react, have anything done or said,
It was no longer raining on me, there was an umbrella above my head.
His chin rested on his hand, his elbow on the bench
The other held up an umbrella to save me from the drench.
His eyes met mine, time seemed to freeze
And everything else did too, except the soft breeze.
The world suddenly went --red, white and black
Keeping me inside the shade, he walked to the front from the
back.
Instead of sitting next to me, he extended his hand
As mine slipped into his, worries slipped away like sand.
We walked hand in hand, not a single word said we
He shifted the umbrella into the hand he had offered to me.
My fingers fidgeted with his, till they loosened up his grip
I looked at him, he looked at me and we let the umbrella slip.
