THE STARS IN THE SKY
THE STARS IN THE SKY
During school days, living in the Quarters
We had cots on the open under the sky
At night, we used to count and count the stars
Wondered if once we can become a scientist
Years rolled by and the ceiling over our bed
Shined differently in different places, hotels
Working hard the whole day when we lie on the bed
Eyes closed in sleep even before seeing the ceiling
But today hours and hours I stare at this ceiling
The white heart-less ceiling of the hospital stretching
With or without light, always so gloomy to see
Never dreamed that one day I will be like this in bed
Oh God, Had I known if this could happen
I could have slept under the blue sky some time to count
Or at least I would have stolen some moment to peep
To look through the window at the sky and the stars
Life slips away quickly like sand on a hand
As you earn and spend your daily life cycles
Do spend some happy time in nature given to you
Enjoys the real oxygen and all the greens around.
