The Earth Gyres Gleefully

The Earth Gyres Gleefully

2 mins 439 2 mins 439

The earth gyres gleefully to greet me

Through the endless mirth and cares

Through caresses, red dust, and brown motes

As I journey through deserts and boughs,

Hills and vales that all burst forth in song

A song that is stirring still in my ears

Already slaughtered beyond propitiation

As I shadow of loneliness offer my blood

To the vultures that stalk the land

Now I am cut in two with my entrails

Producing a cuisine for the greenflies

That preserves the green bile

I die tomorrow flung on the memories of today

The seas sing in sensuous solemnity

To the lies lying sullen in the shrunken stomach

That rumbles and farts endlessly from indignation

Of the glutton's mouths that devour indifference.

To the limitless time that scours our memories

Of those grenades and bullets that call

We hurry licking the rears of our tyrants

Reveled by strange tom-tom, I the shadow

Lurking flaccid in a common ramshackle

Soap the guilt clean from my gut

For the atonement of our father's sins

Still, I die like Phoenix tomorrow

Trampled by the jaundiced feet of today

God gets down from His throne to shake me

With his oversized hands that choke my breath

And his sunken eyes rolling in their sockets

Barbing baiting and throwing me

The clouds run amok as celestial silence

Echoes the happy mock encounter

Where memories embrace dalliance.

Sterility

When I wake up I shall daub my eyes

With green and my skin with cherubic candour

And hang them aloft on a blunt assegai

And seal them in this blurred glass plate

Before I die timelessly tomorrow let me

Scourge the sceptre with my hot blood.
