Solitude
Solitude
Ah! Sweet Solitude!
Teach me the talk
Of the whispering leaves,
Though tongue they
Have not and
Nor any ears,
But I think,
They hear me
Going past,
Like faithful
Pets they
Closer come,
Murmuring sweet
Nothings, an’
Moving away.
O Great Solitude!
Teach me to sing
Rambling songs,
That to the
Heart doth please.
Teach me to sing
Like the breezy wind
That comes an’ goes,
An’ yet, has peace,
Carrying a satchel
Of detachment
Packed an’ full,
That it carries
With itself, an
Inseparable bundle
Clutched very tight,
An’ won’t let go
However anyone’s might !
