So What Is Pain?

So what is pain?

It is everything I know

Being trapped outside in the rain

Until it starts to snow

 

The bitter cold of winter night

The longest darkest days

For I will never see the light

As my skies are always grey

 

For if tomorrow promised release

From the grip of the devil’s hold

I would pray for a moment’s peace

Being more precious than silver or gold

 

Maybe I could have just one glance

At what happiness really is?

And under the moonlight I would dance

Until the dawn comes to kiss

 

Suffering had stolen all of me

But my soul was not so meek

And through my strength I hope you see

I am anything but fragile and weak
