Let us build it together
Let us build it together
I remember the time long ago,
When I was small,
Yes, it really was a long time ago.
A time when I could see,
The Sun and the Sea,
Meeting each other,
Hugging each other,
On a rosy morning.
A time when I could feel,
The rainy puddles on my heel,
And the patter of drops,
Little rain drops,
On my window sill.
A time when I could hear,
My mother shout, "Come here",
And I would rush,
Down the lane in a rush,
To play in the dark
Until dark.
A time when the trees,
Would whisper sweet nothings,
Into my ears.
A time when honeysuckles would grow in bunches,
And honeysuckers would come,
Looking, longing for them.
Now,
When I look around,
I see concrete jungles all around,
Not a place for me,
Not a place for you,
And none at all,
For generations to come.
To play, to run,
To rush and have fun,
In puddles of rain,
To listen and strain,
Their ears for sounds
Of crickets and frogs.
Let us save for ourselves,
And generations ahead,
A piece of land,
A piece of earth,
At least a small one.
We have to rebuild,
All we have lost,
In the world around,
To the world around.
Yes we can do it,
So let us do it,
And create a morrow,
A beautiful tomorrow,
For our future,
To enjoy,
To remember,
For them to preserve,
For their futures to come.
