Romance

Last Dusk..

Last Dusk..

How can I partake,

On a feast of bread and wine,

When my words and half-lines,

Have flown away,

I try to put pieces of my soul,

To allure them back,

But my love is lost,

To winds of undefined fortune,

No hunger or will have I,

Give me hemlock or wine,

It matters not,

For the circle is broken.

In midst of darkness,

Light is more enhanced,

I remember your touch, the smile,

The sunrise of my life,

But now shadows of memories

Haunt me,

My chalice is empty,

Fill it with wine and poison,

Truly shall I drink deeply,

For maybe my death, may make more

Since then my life.

Let me have the last tango,

Before you forget me,

Let me hold you close,

For winter of discontent howls like a banshee.

You played with the string of my heart,

You laughed with your tresses, in wild abandon,

And the head was thrown back,

Mistaken was I that I saw love in your eyes,

You mocked me with false expectations,

Never knowing that the joke was on me,

Scattered are my pieces,

No ashes burn,

A hollowness remains,

Of a bonfire of times, we shared together.

So let us dance one last time,

To the music of fading dusk,

Maybe just for filling my empty soul,

To the sound of cello and violin,

Before you part ways,

And kiss me goodbye,

For even letting go,

Is the purest form of love,

The last song of the last dusk.
