Just For A Bag Of Money’s Sake
Just For A Bag Of Money’s Sake
A wise advisor always stood by her side,
Accompanying the Queen of Jhansi on her difficult stride.
Come what may,
She thought to herself,
My people shall stand high,
Each proud of himself.
She planned to join hands
With Kalpi and its ruler
Peshwa Nana Saheb
And felt a bit cooler.
She told her advisor
Bit-by-bit her plan,
But little did she know
He was a disloyal man.
Dulaji Thakur
Was his name,
By joining the British,
He thought he would attain fame.
He broke open the walls
Of Jhansi's fort,
At night, when the Queen
Had just left the court.
The Queen planned again,
With her true aide,
Jhalkari Bai, and
Escape to Kalpi she made.
A final rebellion she fought
To her best level,
But lost, attaining the name
"Greatest Woman Rebel".
And so Dulaji put India's freedom at stake,
Just for a bag of money's sake.
