I LOVE YOU
I LOVE YOU
Those three words
were never said
I don't know why
Was it because words
paled in front of actions?
A tender touch
On the forehead
A hand held over the head
Showering blessings
Promise of protection
Their way of conveying
words nonvocal
And they were not alone
in this vocal charade
Can't recall having mouthed
those three words myself
But touching their feet
daily, before leaving for work
meant what was not said
Applying moisturizer on her back
Giving him a shoulder rub
Didn't it say all that
remained unsaid?
Perhaps those words
were insignificant in
the love we exchanged
"I Love you"
Ma, Baba
Hear it from afar
Till I meet you beyond
the horizon and say
it up to your face
