I Am Lazy

When you lie snuggling, comfy and cozy,

 In your bed, long after the sun has risen,

Unable and unwilling to get up and exercise,

To go to the gym or for your morning run.

When you are struggling to complete a project,

Easy it may have been to finish it,

Now long overdue, you tell yourself,

I always wait for the last minute.

When you have to clean up your house,

Left unkempt for what seems like forever,

When you are forced to do some household chores,

Run a few errands by your mother,

When you have to do something that you hate,

But are unable to find a convincing ruse,

You say that that like all other humans,

You too are lazy, and have the perfect excuse.

But when you are playing your favourite sport,

When a mad dog chases you on the street,

When you get that much deserved break from work,

And are headed off to your weekend retreat,

Ask yourself whether you are lazy,

And you probably will start to wonder,

"Why is it that when it's about things I love,

All my laziness suddenly disappears?"

The answer is not as hard as it seems,

Though at first, you may deny,

That it all boils down to a matter of choice,

And "I am lazy", is a disgusting lie.
