Hello — A Poem to Myself

Hello — A Poem to Myself

Hello.

I’ve been standing watching the horizon,

A serpentine somnambulist moving nowhere but in circles.

Half of me is still dreaming, eyes awake.

She longs to see the sunrise, she’s been sleeping for a year.

She thinks she sees the bright flame of the sun and she opens her eye from her deadened slumber —

Opens it twice, opens it whole.

Rays of a smile slice the sky, the curved lip of content soothes the horizon.

The light within herself reflected onto the sky,

A myriad of rippling golden souls dancing on the water illuminating her view.

She didn’t even realise her light was dancing, she was gracing her future with her strength.

I watched blindly, masquerading my own light as the sun.

I lit up my horizon, light poured from a pained smile.

The sky smiles but only halfway,

It’s vista is fractured.

A sunrise is only half of a whole but fully divine,

But since she has been half of her whole she feels overwhelmingly supine.

But I am now somewhat awake and I greet my splintered vista.

You glassy eyed shining girl, welcome again.

Hello.
