Diverged but not Divided
Diverged but not Divided
“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth...”
Many eras later, we too have reached an ultimatum,
To follow a path that diverged for mankind to mindfully reaffirm,
To stand united as a force of strength or tread as a weakness of the nation.
It yet confuses many minds, wondering, if staying indoors is the solution.
The pandemic hovering around us has created a paranoiac situation,
But can't we instead, build a better path to restoration?
Distancing ourselves from one another may feel like a vice,
But this act of care at this point can potentially prove to be wise.
The deadly virus catches upon you like a scavenger ready to suck your life.
But it is a matter of choice,
To allow the Grim Reaper to set a camp outside your house,
While you are still alive.
Physical distancing is merely to separate our bodies from one another,
But mentally, could you observe how this unites us in a way bringing all together?
It is crucial for us to follow these temporary norms,
And save ourselves from the virus that can take a variety of forms.
Our unity as mankind has given a way for other life forms to flourish,
Didn't you notice the beautiful creatures venturing on the streets to nourish?
Survive this catastrophe until things normalise,
And let us try to grow to be kind, sensitive and forget words like greed and lies.
It is up to you to decide if this situation is a blessing in disguise or a vice.
To bring the chaos of riots and to live with guilt and shame,
Or to live in accordance with the norms to prevail victory over this fame.
