Cold Winter Evening Out-doors

The glowing retiring Sun like a blushing bride,

Pulled down a veil of mist on the mountain-side,

A haze descended, and visibility became a blur,

A cacophony of birds rent the surrounding air.

The leaves seemed to shiver with the intense cold,

The pine trees creaked and groaned - they were old,

Flora and fauna froze as the cold was bitterly intense,

 Lone cricket complained sitting on the broken fence.

 The fields were covered with a delicate white lace,

 The dew drops had crystalized in an intricate maze,

 The birds hastily retired to their cozy sheltering nest,

 In the bleak wintery weather they had no place to rest.

  Shutters came down in the houses as the lights were lit,

  No one dared to brace the chilly evening air on the street.

   Folks wearing gloves, and scarves managed to step out,

   Not enjoying a bit the chilly evening . There’s no doubt!

   The rabbit delved into his warm burrow to find his safe shelter,

   He knew it was unwise to frolic about in the nasty cold weather,

    I shook like an aspen leaf, my hands turned black and blue,

    They became numb and lost sensation as the icy breeze blew.

     As the evening changed her attire and wore an inky gown,

     I knew she had departed, and the tired sun was lying down,

     But for me to experience an evening out-doors in the cold

      Is a nostalgic event, to value and cherish a thousand fold.
