Break the Chain

There is a chain around us, 

A chain all around us, 

One which binds us, 

One which reminds us, 

Of our helplessness, 

As humans. 

          It is a chain of contact, 

          A chain of communication, 

          A chain of contagion, 

          A cruel chain as that binding, 

           Lawless criminals. 

There have been days, 

When we have seen with eyes, 

Wide open, 

The cruelty of this chain. 

      There have been days, 

       When we have suffered pains

       And lost more than gained, 

       By being a part of this chain.

We have seen people, 

Losing lives and limbs, 

Losing dears and nears, 

To the binding of this chain. 

     Let us break shackles of this chain, 

     of contact, 

     One day at a time, 

     Let us break this chain, 

    And ensure no link remains.

Let us stop this link, 

Let us hope this chain, 

Does not bind us. 

     Let us hope this chain, 

     Frees us and generations ahead, 

     From its binding, 

     In near future, 

     With no scars to remain for future,
