A prayer to Bharat Mata

Oh Bharat Mata !

I pray to thee.

Please dissolve these territorial boundaries,

Let there be no regional identities,

Let us all appreciate what we have in common,

Let us all behave like citizens of one nation.

Let there be no insider,

Let there be no outsider,

Let language create no barrier,

Let there on this account be awkwardness or fear.

Let us not be divided any more by states or region,

Let them not fester any communal tension,

Let us forget North, South, East, and West,

Let these man-made distinctions be put to rest

Let us all appreciate our unity,

Let us be be bound together by our diversity.

Let us be proud of our festivals and culture,

Let not fissiparous and separatist tendencies engender.

Let us remember the nation our founding fathers gave,

Let xenophobia and parochialism be put to the grave.

Let us all feel in our hearts as one,

Let us say that "We are all proud to be Indian".

Oh Bharat Mata,

Thus I pray to thee. 

If God had so wished, He would have made all Indians speak with one language… the unity of India has been and shall always be a unity in diversity.”
