All the preparation has been made. He can be here any minute. I am ecstatic but scared by the reality too. Today, I will see him after a long time. Before he was abroad, so couldn’t make it for four years. But now, since he is back, I envision seeing him more often. I understand, he is a very busy person. And it’s good for him if he works so hard at this age. But if not every month, he can come once in a couple of months.

I prepared all the food of his choice, ordered some from outside too, not sure if home-cooked food doesn’t taste right to him now. This time I am going to tell him, “It becomes stressful when you don’t visit me at all. I am surrounded by emptiness. I miss you, my son. I have had the worst parting that filled me with a great sense of grief. I feel very proud that you are such a successful person at this young age, just make some time for me too. Don’t plan your next visit after five long years. “

I quickly rush to it when I hear the phone ringing, his voice comes, “I have got some important work, will not be able to come today. Will try some other day.”

The disappointment is overwhelming. I don't know if I can tackle such a legacy of sadness. It is difficult to handle the pain of not seeing him.

“But there is always tomorrow”, I continue waiting for him.
