Cricket Fan For A Day

Cricket Fan For A Day

I am not a fan of cricket but I don’t know what happened to me on 2nd April 2011.

It was like any other day during vacations after exams. I was at my grandma’s house. I was excited about the World Cup final to my surprise. I woke up early, bathed and went to get milk with my cousin. In the way, I kept on asking him questions about cricket and he too kept on answering them. It proved to me one thing that Cricket is not less than a religion in our nation with fans who are crazy over it.

We reached home and I tore two pages from my notebook and colored them in tricolor and took a stick from the new bamboo broom to make stick (without my mum getting aware of it). I then took my water colors, dipped my fingers in the orange, white and green color and made the Tiranga on me and my cousin’s cheeks.

Then finally after hours of preparation, we sat to watch the match and I managed to remain cheerful.

The match kept on running and at evening during an advertisement, I gave my brother sugar in water instead of lemonade in hurry to not miss a second. Well, my commitment paid and we won the World Cup.

But the only thing which bothers me even today is that I was never a cricket enthusiast, nor I am today but for that day, I was.
