A Journey To Friendship

Every friendship has a unique start. But, in our case, it goes extraordinary. We know each other since class 4th. But, I don't remember the exact time, we came closer. We hatred each other, especially me. We fought for everything we had in common - be it our names, be it our hobbies, be it our interest, be it our friends.

Since class 4th, we fought till class 6th (at least). We took admission in same school at same time. So our fight starts at the topic of interview that was held for the sake of admission. I cleared that with maximum marks and she spread a rumour that it was she who cleared it with maximum marks. So, I started hating her at that very moment. And then I had keen interest in drawing from starting. So I used to collect all my work and made a drawing file. Although she also likes drawing but she never thought of collecting it in a file. Here, she liked my idea. I blamed her of copying me. Then one day, it was our science lecture and she was talking non-stop. Class Monitor complained about her to the teacher. Teacher gave her warning but she didn't paid any head to it. When teacher called out my name, I went unaware of nonsense created by her. And, there goes a Slap. After that incident, I was sure that I am not going to befriend her.

There was another girl whom I wanted to make friends with. And, (unfortunately) she became her bench mates in class 5. I was so jealous of her. I can't explain it in words. I just wanted to break all my ties with her. For the first time, we became bench mates in class 7. There we began developing a bond - a bond of friendship.

As we were bench mates, we started making our notes together. I had interest in science, so I became her tutor. But, in class 8, we again separated. I enjoyed somebody else's company more than hers. We even talked lesser day by day. It was like she became nobody to me. But, she never complained about it to me.

Next year, shuffling of classes was going to held and she told me she would go there where I will. I was happy. She still blindly trusted me and I trusted somebody else. Though we were bench mates, but I still preferred others over her. Actually I was taking her for granted. As time passed, a fear started developing within me - of loosing my friends after 10th because I got a good friend circle after a long time. In class 10, everything changed including me. In the beginning, I started hiding my secrets from her. Once, I got a chance to make a group for some activity, I had chosen other friends leaving her hurt. Then, when my so called second best friend ditched me, she was the one who held me. She was the one who actually was with me.

While our final exams, we used to spend a lot of time together, before exam to exam centre. Then on last day, I said to her 'I love you'. She said if anybody else would listen, he/she might think that we are lesbian. After 10th we parted our ways but we are still together till today.

I wish I could change my past for hurting her, taking her for granted and for my every mistake I want to say her a sorry. She accepted my every sorry with open heart and a wide smile, because of which we are together. Time became my tutor and taught me a great lesson and I am still a science tutor for her that I realised today. And I am happy becoming her best friend and teacher.
