The entire courtroom was full. Today, everyone wanted to know the decision of the judge. Dr. Elvis Brown, a renowned surgeon was convicted in the murder of three prisoners, Peter, Eveson and Phillip. Peter and Eveson were totally criminals; however, Phillip was framed, plotted by both to escape from the crimes. They were sent to the hospital for initial general body testing by the forensic experts. The next day, they were found murdered in the detention room.

All three of them were slashed in the similar way; their throat was cut first and then their wrists. This caused the blood to flow uncontrollably, and slowly all three of them were dead. Dr Brown's movements were detected in the CCTV footages, with the addition of his fingerprints present on the scalpel as well as the equipment box in the detention room. Dr Brown had totally denied everything that he was convicted with. He also complained that he had started suffering total blackouts since the last couple of months. On the request of his lawyer, his medical tests were done. The reports were to be shown in the courts today.

"All of you, Rise...!" the Royal Guards said. Everyone stood up as the judge entered. The judge came and sat on his chair looking at the courtroom. On the left side, the families of the three murdered people were present and on the right, the convicted doctor Brown was seated. He then signalled for the case to start

“The medical tests are done and we have the reports, my lord...” Lisa Jones, Dr. Brown's lawyer, said as she submitted the reports. "According to the reports, it is now clear that Dr. Brown is suffering from DID. Dissociative Personality Disorder....!" the whole courtroom got shocked. Whispers and murmurs came up from every corner. The judge silent them.

The lawyer continued, "The reports clearly state that Dr Brown has been suffering from this disorder since a long time now. He still keeps suffering blackouts and dizziness on certain times of the day. Initially, he neglected them but when the frequency increased, he consulted a neurologist. On his suggestion, Dr. Brown was instructed to carry out the tests, which he did. The tests revealed this..." She pointed to the files and folders on the desk. "He is suffering from a split personality disorder. To explain this, a person suffering from this disorder has two different personalities inside him, and both of them have no connection with each other. Both of the personalities are absolutely different in terms of behaviour. A person suffering from this will behave differently when he suffers the attack. There can be any number of personalities inside a person, depending upon what things the person had gone through in the past." Pointing to Dr. Browns, Lisa continued," MY client had a very difficult past. His wife had committed suicide and both his children had blamed him for her death, the reason being that Dr. Brown was always busy in his work, giving no time to his family. This created a lot of mental stress & depression inside him, ultimately leading to the mental illness. According to the reports received from the psychiatrist, my client was suffering from this disorder experiencing severe attacks and mental disturbances. He even tried to kill himself in the same way by slashing his wrists and neck." She then showed his wrist with stitches and injuries on his neck.

"As per the reports received, the murders were done by the other personality of Dr Browns. The other personality which was detected by the psychiatrist indicated very harsh behaviour & cruelty towards criminals." She then presented the reports that were prepared by the psychiatrist, suggesting clear examples and detailed synopsis indicating that Dr. Browns’s other personality had done the murders.

The judge after going through all the submitted evidences and reports commented that even though the subject was a mental patient, the crimes were still committed and murders still did happened. Even though the criminal is a mental patient, the Law & Order never allows any lawbreaker to go free of charge. Dr. Browns was then declared a criminal and was taken to the jail. While in the custody, Dr. Browns again suffered mental attacks, his other personality reportedly injuring fellow prisoners. He also complained of blackouts, everytime he came out of the other personality.

The case was again reopened, and with proper evidence from all the authorities, the Doctor was declared suffering from mental illness. Removing from jail, he was then admitted to a mental asylum for further treatment. Finally after much courtship and courtroom wars, Dr Brown was released from jail, marking him as a mental patient and was also released from all the charges. His release brought a lot of speculation and criticism from public. Owing to his popularity as a surgeon in the city, many people raised concerns over the law enforcement.

After years of spending time in mental asylum, Dr Brown was finally released. After his release, to avoid unnecessary public attention, he left the city and went to a small town. He had to take a certain amount of medicines daily to avoid the return of the DID. He then shifted himself in a small townside, where he established himself as a good surgeon of that area. As time went by, he slowly came out of the disorder and the bitter memories attached to it. Whenever he saw the stitch marks on his wrists, he remembered all the tough times that he had spent and all the bad memories he had.

"Thank you for giving me a chance to work with you, sir..!" Olivia, he's newly appointed secretary said to him. Today was the first day of her job, and being a student of Surgery ,she was always very glad to be an assistant of Dr Brown, who was now very much popular in the town. She had just learned a little, and wanted to explore her areas of interest and expertise.

Dr Browns, too, was now getting old. He had started his clinic in the centre of the town, and he being a good surgeon, had already become popular in the area. He needed an assistant to take care of his daily work, and Olivia served the purpose rightly.

Dr. Brown had a nursing home and had a good amount of staff in it, including Samuel, the goon of that area. He was employed in his nursing home as a ward boy. Never listening to anyone, Samuel was always known for his rash behaviour and arrogant talks.

One Day, he suffocated an old man by pouring in more medicine inside his throat. "Oh c'mon old doctor man....! I just wanted him to eat this medicine... I donno why he choked so badly...!" He answered roughly when he was questioned the reason. The other day, he twisted the hand of a patient while applying stitches on the wrist which lead to more bleeding. “That was his mistake. He moved his hand out..!” he answered arrogantly when questioned about his act.

Samuel had also employed one of his close friend, Ismail as another ward boy in the same nursing home. Ismail was equally abusive and unreliable. Infact many times the hospital staff had caught both of them drinking & smoking in the hospital premises.

"He is literally spoiling my reputation...!” Dr Brown got irritated one day and blasted out his frustration. “That idiot doesn’t even know what he is doing is not just wrong, but also harmful..!”

“I’ll speak to him... I'll see if he listens to me....! “Olivia somehow tried to make things under control. But the irate guy didn't even listen to her." Don’t you ever try to make things hard for me girl….!” He threw it back on her when Olivia tried to make him things explain. He still continued his errant way of living.

“I think I am taking too much mental stress nowadays…” Dr .Brown complained to Olivia when he reached the nursing home one day. “I’m suffering Blackouts since the past some days….!”

“But I do hope you’re taking your medications on time, doctor…!”

“I am. I utterly cautious not to repeat what had happened in the past…!” Dr. Brown said as he remembered the disturbing evocations of the yesteryears.

“What had happened in your past, doctor…?” Olivia, a bit curious questioned him.

Dr. Browns left the question unanswered.

A few days later, Dr. Brown had come to another city for attending an important conference. Unfortunately, during the meetings, he suffered a blackout. Somehow balancing himself, he stood up and continued his work in the conference. After the meetings, he went to his suite and feeling exhausted, he slept.

The next day, he woke up with the noise of someone knocking at the door. Feeling tired, Dr. Brown opened the door & saw the Hotel Attendant standing at the door.

“Sir...yesterday night you had called for a Bottle of Chateau Ferret Red wine. Sorry we couldn’t deliver it…here it is…” he offered a bottle of Red Wine. The doctor looked at him questioningly.

“I never drink..! I’ve never touched any alcohol bottle in my entire life…! Why will I order a wine..?” he replied back to the attendant. As he spoke, his cell phone beeped with an incoming message. It was from Olivia. Dismissing the attendee, he opened the message on his cell phone.

“Tried reaching you since yesterday night. Call back….it’s urgent – Olivia.”

As he checked further, he had 8 missed calls & a voice message from her. Sensing trouble ,he called her back.

“What’s the matter? You had called me since yesterday evening… What happened ?” he said as she answered the call.

Olivia was quite for a long time. Finally she spoke, “There’s a serious problem that has happened here. Samuel has been killed. His body has been found in your backyard. He’s been slashed with a surgeon’s scalpel..!

“WHAT….?” Dr. Browns almost fell down with a shock. “How did this happen? Who killed him..?”

“The police are investigating on it….till now they haven’t found anything to be suspected at.”

“I’m starting right now….I’ll reach in another couple of hours….” Dr. Browns replied & disconnected the call.

He packed his bags and checking out from the hotel ,booked a cab to reach by road to his town. As he boarded the CAB, the chauffeur smiled at him at him and said, “I hope you got another Cab yesterday night, Doctor…..”

“Well I was in my room…! Why will I book a Cab and go anywhere?” agitated, Dr Brown replied back.

“Sorry to remind you, Sir, but yesterday night you had gone back to your town in my CAB. You said you had some urgent work and had to return back to your town side…!” as the chauffeur said this, he showed a signed copy of the receipt that the doctor had signatured upon the previous night. Looking at it, Dr Brown couldn’t believe what was happening. He still was adamant that he hadn’t booked any CAB the previous night, as he had fainted and was in his room for rest.

Still questioning the things that happened today, he reached his town. As he headed straight to his bungalow, he saw a fleet of police outside. One of the officers recognized him and he was then presented in front of the Head Inspector.

“I am Inspector Dennis. I need to ask you some questions, if you could co-operate please..!”
