Farewell, Fair Friend

Farewell, Fair Friend

Fare thee well, my dearest friend,

Our love grew over the decade past.

I knew not how or whenst it began,

But slowly and surely knew it would grow to last.

One day, Castle Black opened her gates,

I was hooked and thus began my fate.

A fate entwined and twisted with lore,

Of the song of ice and fire, I knew not before.

The magic, the twists, the losses, the dreams,

The dragons and wolves and yet stranger things.

I came to love you and all your knights,

I came to dream of you in all your might.

And whenst my watch first began,

I was just a summer child in a foreign land.

Tonight as my watch ends at last,

I cannot but think fondly of the ten years past.

Ser this, lord that, I’ve loved them all,

The wolves, the queens, the loves, the brawls.

“We should start back,” they said in book number one,

“No way,” said I; “I am far from done.”

My love, true love,

I canst not believe,

Our watch has ended and I am alone.

No wait, no yearn, there is nothing to do,

But sit in my cold room and mourn for you.

Fare thee well, my favourite friend,

Our love grew over the decade past.

I do not know now what I would do,

But I do know that I will always,

Love you true.
